Pure Little One Book Review

They traveled across the country with their dog, chasing butterflies and hoping to meet someone they could love. Once they met, however, their friendship was ruined when a mysterious stranger named Jacob arrives, tannin in his breath, and takes them to his cabin. There, he threatens them to either leave or risk dying if they do not go on with his dangerous plans.

As crazy as it sounds, Jacob turns out to be good at being a good friend, so he invites the girls over. Unfortunately, when they arrive, Jacob has a plan. He tells them he wants to show them the world, and get them away from his cabin. So they decide to go on a “girls only” vacation, which is supposed to last only two days, but turns into a week-long getaway.

The next few chapters deal with the girls making their way through the woods. As expected, things do not go so smoothly, and neither do Button and Starr. However, they do manage to meet a new friend named Delilah, who helps them get past their problems. This part of the book makes this book worth reading, because it is very sad, but there is also humor, and an underlying message of friendship and taking care of loved ones. As a family, the children learn that love and affection are the key to solving problems and that having a strong support system always leads to a better outcome.

Pure Little One is written in a very simple, easy to understand way. It is written in first person, and contains many illustrations. The author’s favorite colors are green and pink, and the book is chunky, with heavy black lettering.
